Terms and conditions regarding registration for Musikwoche 2026
Dates and Schedule to be confirmed.
Dates
Registration for Musikwoche will open on 1 September 2026 and close on 30 November 2026. Unfortunately, we will not be able to accommodate any on-the-day registrations.
Musikwoche begins on Friday, 4 December 2026.
An optional early name-tag collection will also be available at Namib Primary School on Friday, 4 December 2026, from 09:00–13:00. This additional option was introduced in response to requests from parents and is not mandatory.
Participants who do not collect their name tags on Friday may collect them on Saturday, 5 December 2026, between 08:00 and 12:30. The opening ceremony begins at 13:00.
Rehearsals will commence at 14:00 on Saturday, 5 December 2026, so all participants should bring their instruments and music stands. The duration of the rehearsal will be approximately two hours.
The event concludes on Sunday, 13 December 2026, with the Church Concert. Please note that all participants are required to attend the final concert on 13 December.
Venue
The Swakopmunder Musikwoche takes place at Namib Primary School, Swakopmund, where rehearsals and concerts will also be held.
Price
Each participant pays a registration fee of N$120. Donations are welcome!
Please register as soon as possible and do not wait until the last minute. Registrations are only finalised once payment has been received in full.
Kindly send the registration form and proof of payment to SwakopMusikwoche@gmail.com and linette1potgieter@gmail.com. Alternatively, and preferably, complete our online registration form and upload your proof of payment.
Once your enrolment has been finalised, we will send you your registration confirmation.
If you choose to make an electronic payment, please make sure that the participant’s name is included as the payment reference.

Who Can Register
Anyone between the ages of 9 and 26 may register. Participants should have an interest in music and play an instrument.
As we want to return to the roots of Musikwoche, we will focus on youth musicians through a Youth Orchestra and, where applicable, ensembles.
Please be advised that we do not offer piano and/or guitar lessons.
Ensemble Placement
There will be no formal auditions for ensemble placement. The Grade 3 and Grade 4 levels are general guidelines only and do not guarantee placement in a particular ensemble.
Each Musical Director retains the prerogative to place a participant in the ensemble they consider most appropriate. Placement may take into account the participant’s instrument, playing ability and musical experience, as well as the repertoire, instrumentation and balance required within each ensemble.
Our intention is not to rank musicians, but to place each participant where they can contribute confidently, be appropriately challenged and grow musically throughout the week.
Sheet Music
Orchestra and ensemble sheet music will not be distributed in advance or made available on the Musikwoche website in 2026. This is due to copyright requirements and because final ensemble placement will be determined by the respective Musical Directors.

Expectations

Participants are required to bring their own instrument and music stand.

Participants are required to attend the opening ceremony, as important information is shared there.

Once registered, participants are requested to notify the Musikwoche immediately if they are unable to attend Musikwoche, as the Musical Directors and lecturers prepare music selections with consideration of registered instruments and abilities.

Participants are required to commit to attending all rehearsals and concerts as scheduled. We will do our utmost to inform participants in good time of any changes.

Once Musikwoche commences, participants are expected to notify their lecturer immediately if they are unable to attend a rehearsal or are withdrawing from the programme. Registration fees cannot be refunded after the start of Musikwoche.

Participants must adhere to the instructions of their lecturers, the Musikwoche Organisers and the stage crew.

The Musikwoche will not be held responsible for loss of or damage to private property or for injury to persons on the premises.

Participants are responsible for treating all property belonging to Musikwoche, as well as the rehearsal and performance premises, with great care.

During rehearsals, participants may wear casual clothing. For public performances, participants are expected to wear black and white.

Participants are not permitted backstage unless authorised by the Stage Manager.

Participants agree to the Musikwoche Organisers taking photographs and videos during Musikwoche for publication on the website or in other publications for promotional purposes.

The Musikwoche Committee is not responsible for arranging transport, accommodation and/or meals for participants.
